CHECK YOUR SIZE: SMALL FRAME Rider Height 178-186cm **FOR USE ON GREEN RATED BEGINNER TRAILS ONLY** Beginner Mountain Bikes and green trails are the raddest way to try out mountain biking. With super grippy tyres, easy to change gears and smooth braking you’ll be riding like a champion in no time. Your hire includes an MTB helmet along with the basic instruction on bike operation and directions to the warm up and green trails. You may collect your bike from the VertigoMTB shop located at 7 Cecilia St from 9:00am on the day of your hire but remember to check your shuttle time if you have pre-booked the flagstaff shuttle to the main/green trailhead. Allow time for us to set up the bike for you. This bike is due back before 4pm. Late charges apply. TRANSPORTATION OF OUR HIRE BIKES: We DO NOT allow hire bikes to transported on personal vehicles unless on a commercial bike rack or ute pad. We provide a shuttle service for Beginner Bikes to Flagstaff Trailhead where all the green trails are. When you are ready to return, ride the Town Link, a descending trail of single track and the ride-way around Georges Bay back to the Vertigo shop. You can also ride up the duel way ‘townlink’ trail (8km). We reserve the right to refuse bike hire to any person. BEGINNER BIKES ARE ONLY PERMITTED ON GREEN BEGINNER TRACKS and are NOT SUITED FOR ANY OTHER SHUTTLE. There are green loops from the trailhead as indicated on the onsite map, but are not for Loila Tier Shuttles or Blue Tier/ Bay of Fires Trails. For intermediate riders on Blue intermediate tracks we offer dual-suspension and dual suspension E-Bike hire bikes.

Blue Tier Adventure on a Specialized Turbo Levo SL E-bike. It’s a MUST to experience the beauty of mountian biking in Tasmania! *Blue Tier trail has been fully refurbished for 2024/25. Your adventure begins at St Helens VertigoMTB. Our team will set you up on your Specialized Turbo Levo SL, specifically for your height and weight. Bring a backpack with water and snacks for the ride. We supply open face helmets and ride tool pack if required at no additional cost. Shuttle departs here and will take you on a scenic drive through the rolling hillside of Tassie’s North East to the breathtaking sub-alpine mountain range of the Blue Tier to begin your epic journey through approximately 23 kilometers (19km for Novice option) of remote wilderness singletrack with incredible scenery and world class trails to match. Starting in the high alpine, riders will descend through the all-time flow of the Blue Tier, passing through lush myrtle forest, dense eucalyptus trees and green mossy creeks. After 23km of 30% climbing and 70% descending – finishing with the ultimate gravity flow of Big Chook – the Blue Tier trail pops you out at the Weldborough Pub where you can purchase a delicious lunch before we are back to shuttle you back to VertigoMTB St Helens. The Blue Tier overlooks the world renowned coastline known as the Bay of Fires. Start your 42km ride with a stunning view of the Bay of Fires, your final destination. This singletrack trail takes you through the diversity of blackwood and myrtle forests, giant granite boulders to coastal eucalypt and grass tree landscapes, ending at the stunning beaches of Tasmania’s east coast. The first 13km of the trail includes exceptional flow, flow that rivals the best of Tasmanian mountain bike adventure trails and will get your adrenaline pumping for the rest of the ride. After regrouping with your mates for the initial climb, the trail ascends into beautiful coastal forests making you almost forget you’re climbing. And finally, after drinking in the epic view of the Bay of Fires from the end of the climb, a fun 6km final descent will deliver you to the coast. Refuel and relax at our private shack overlooking the Bay of Fires coastline with complimentary food and the chance for a swim in the crystal clear ocean, before we shuttle you back to Derby.
Recommendations from Vertigo: Prepare for changes in weather, cold/wet conditions on the Blue Tier and very hot , exposed conditions on the coastal half of the trail. Carry plenty of water (min 3 Litres), along with trail snacks/gels etc. Bring your swimwear (towels are provided). Recommended: Hire a Specialized Levo SL or Levo e-bike for the day from us to make the day more enjoyable. Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced Fitness: Moderate to High Departs: St Helens Rider Suitability:This trail is 42 km and for experienced mountain bikers only. You need to be well prepared, fit and able to ride blue intermediate features for a number of hours. Shuttle from St Helens to Loila Tier for optional trails including the adventure ride loop, Dreaming Pools, or shorter descent back to the main trail head such as Old Salty Dog, SeeYa Later, Send Helens. Dreaming Pools is a 27km wilderness day with a bit of pedalling, so be prepared for with some climbing. The trail traverses ridge lines and stunning gullies of tall Iron Bark forest with a good mix of climbing and beautiful fast flowy descents with awesome vistas to the South, and follows Constable Creek with waterfalls and natural rock pools. The loop has a climb on completion at the Fagstaff Trail Head. Return to St Helens via the fun and flowy Town Link descent. VertigoMTB recommends Dreaming Pools as an E-Bike and the shuttle combo for a full day of riding. Start from St Helens VMTB, riding back via Town Link back to your vehicle. Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced Fitness: High (or e-bike) Departs: St Helens VMTB Store Loila Tier drop gives you multiple options to different trail from Loila Tier to suit gravity riders. At the end of your ride, descend the Town Link back to St Helens VMTB store. – OLD SALTY DOG – Starting high up on Loila Tier Lookout you’ll be busy taking in the epic coastal views before having to shift your focus to a feature packed trail. This trail consists of a couple of fast gravity fed ridge lines stitched together by a mellow climbing link midway. You can expect changing terrain with big granite features and deep moss covered gullies. – SEND HELENS – Send Helens is a 3 km popular black diamond machine groomed trail located near St Helens. This mountain bike primary trail can be used downhill only. On average it takes 9 minutes to complete this trail. – SEEYA LATER – Starting high up on Loila Tier this trail will take the scenic route all the way back down to the trail head.
